A 3D pen that writes on any surface and in mid-air, with the ink rendered in augmented reality. Built in 2011, patented in 2018.

HP/Palm, HARMAN, Faurecia and LG: advanced R&D groups where the job was to build what did not exist yet. In 2025 that work moved from LG NOVA, LG’s venture-creation arm, into one of its ventures, ReliefAI Health, where I run engineering and product.

Employee #1 at an LG NOVA-backed digital health venture. ReliefAI builds a B2B behavioral health platform that helps therapy practices extend care between sessions and sustain it through Remote Therapeutic Monitoring. I own product and engineering end to end: the patient mobile app and provider portal, a FHIR-native healthcare backend on a serverless cloud architecture, and AI applied where it helps clinicians rather than replaces them. Because the company handles protected health information, I am also its HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer and Head of IT: I own the security architecture and am taking the company through HIPAA compliance and SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2.

Vision-driven UX research and engineering for automotive, consumer and professional audio: mid-air haptics with Ultrahaptics, the JBL speaker with Google's Project Soli, audio augmented reality, pupil-based driver monitoring, eye-gaze and vergence sensing, shape-shifting controllers, and HARMAN's lead on the €2.5M Horizon 2020 FANCI consortium. Dozens of invention disclosures from this period became granted patents.

Started in the Emerging Platforms Group on the Compaq AirLife 100, coordinating third-party application partners on Android and Chrome OS devices. Led QA for the webOS Application Catalog through the TouchPad, Pre 2, Pre 3 and Veer launches. Then joined Palm's Future Concepts team to research and prototype interaction models five or more years out: augmented reality writing, Ghost Fingers, Augmented Glass.

Audio augmented reality, eye vergence sensing, shape-shifting controllers, force-feedback headphones, augmented reality writing. Most were filed at HARMAN’s Future Experience Team, with earlier work at HP/Palm and later applications at LG.
Computer scientist by training, HCI researcher by practice, builder by habit.
I grew up in Bologna and have spent my career in Silicon Valley, moving between engineering, product, interaction design and hardware because difficult products need someone who can connect them. I have prototyped things that were ahead of their time and helped turn several of them into products that shipped.
Today I lead engineering and product at ReliefAI Health, an LG NOVA-backed behavioral health venture, as its first employee.
